Valence School

Valence School Sport Experience Day Boxing
So today Myself and Claud travelled to Valence School in Westerham Kent, to teach a wheelchair boxing work shop to the students that attend this awesome school. We taught 5 x 1 hour sessions throughout the day teaching 100 children with a mixture of physical disabilities and complex medical needs.

I was extremely honoured to be asked if I’d like to be involved with the school and the sports day they were holding, When we got there I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it didn’t take long to get into the stride of things and work out how the sessions would run.

A good mix of pad drills, light weights, arm, shoulder and upper body cardio workouts and everyone was sweating just as much as the HKA advanced team.

Claud Sinden was in inspiration to the guys and girls of the school, explaining his condition, working with the students and at the end of each session showed the students what is possible if you put your mind to it, with a few demos of pad drills and sparring.

These Children and young adults have really been a huge inspiration to me today, although with the restrictions and barriers they have in their life, they all were full of energy and with huge hearts, and once they started padding and punching us i’ve never seen so many smiling faces (from ear to ear)

HKA is pushing boundaries and making brand new and challenging steps for more and more individuals every week, I’d like to thank Valence school for the opportunity to work with them today and look forward to future workshops.
