Sunday, HKA traveled up to the BLCC Light Contact show at Areo Kicks gym in
Birmingham.
Fist up was little Myah Zarrodeen age 9. In her second fight to date, All 3
rounds Myah was in control scoring some great head kicks and asked to
control herself and down to about 20 % which was fine as this gave Myah time
to relax and enjoy the bout, 30 minutes later she was back in the ring to
help out a girl that had lost her match, this girl a few years older and
8kgs heavier, so they had a Demo bout and under the watchful eye of myself
and the Ref it was a great bout again for me Myah controlling the fight,
but being a demo both hands are raised as no decision is taken.
Callum Helsdown had a incredible match aghast a strong local lad, both boys
went 100% with speed and both scoring some great shots, but the local boy
was just to much for Callum this time, I’m really pleased for Callum as he
always battles hard with himself and never quite believes in himself getting
very nervous but the last few matches Callum is starting to show great
maturity and he grows in strength and believe’s in himself that little bit
more every-time
Carrie Cooper after losing her fighter ended up with a demo with and nervous
young lady, Great controlled and friendly spar in another the bout, Carrie
was respectful watched her power and allowed the girl to have a move around
and go got work but controlling the pace as and when needed, Although not
what we where after for Carrie its a few more round in the ring and
experience is taken away for every match up.
Last up George French in his first Title Fight, the BLCC -70kgs English
title, Fighting the local Lad in his own gym. support for both men was
great, It was a great 5 rounds of action, one of the best fights of the day,
Both men Southpaws and extremely good kickers, 5 rounds of very even
fighting.
Judge A – 49/48 Antony Judge B 48/47 French…….. Judge C – 50/47 Antony.
Split decision going against French. Although George had the cleaner kicks
and knocked his opponent down 3/4 times with push kicks and sweeps and for
me was the slightly more skilled fighter, We take the decision and go back
to the gym and start working again, George took this fight with only 4 days
notice, after winning his last Full contact fight the weekend before,
although everyone said it was ours and even the Antony his opponent raised
Georges hand, We take the decision and we come back faster, stronger fitter
and make amens very soon 😉
It was a very long day, but worth the travel and the experience, I’m Really
proud of the team as always, When we take a defeat we do with honour and as
always sometimes they are just better, My team are a real credit to HKA,
always humble, 99% of the time work their hardest ;), They never kick off,
bitch and moan, and always work as a team and are most respected where ever
we travel. Fighting and winning is just half the game as its the training
and team that is 95% of which we live.
