So today saw Hastings Kickboxing Academy first ever Light Contact show, and I have to say I’m incredibly proud of the fight team and support of our Members at HKA, today was a great team effort and it wouldn’t of been as successful and stress free as it was without you all.

Firstly – A large round of applause has to go to Jenny, She was in control of the matching, and running for this event, which I have to say was spot on, some extremely close contested bouts this morning.

Secondly to my team, Nicky, G man, Kai, George, Dan, Stacey, Nathan, Ewan, Bethany and Ed, – For all your hard work and efforts to help make the day run super smooth. Thanks to all supporting gyms for coming today, I hope you all had a great day.

25 bouts all done by just gone 1pm. Thats not bad, apart from a few nose bleeds! we had an injury free and well matched event for all bouts.

Young Ellenor Bingham age 10 had a great battle with a tough young lady, This was Ellenor’s first bout for HKA and hasn’t been training to long, she has showed real potential in a short space of time, she wanted to have a try at competing even after only sparring for a few weeks! at the judges scores after 3 rounds it was 1 round each and the final round a draw, so on the cards a well earned draw. Eleanor is very keen and has a real natural skill so I’m really looking forward to working more with her over the next few years.

Cameron Simms and Layton Simms both had amazing first efforts in the ring, Cameron first timer into the world of Kickboxing and both have only been sparring for a few months, both young men show great talent and enthuasiam for the sport, Cameron and Layton both wanted to step throughs the ropes and make the step of becoming future stars in the sport, these 2 are great and are a pleasure to have in the gym and joy to teach, they always give 100% and I look forward to watching the progress together as they mature at HKA.

Calum Helsdown age 10 having 2 fights today, the first of which was a great show of talent and control by himself, winning all 3 rounds. The second bout however was not to be so one sided, 2 greatly skilled and hungry young men (aged 10/11) both wanting to win, neither backing down to stop for a moments breath, all 3 rounds were 100%. at the final bell Callum just missed out on the win, but he takes his hat off to a very strong and well credited fighter.

Myah Zarrodeen age 10, wins another bout making her still undefeated, after over powering her fighter in the first round, she lightened up and started using her ring control and kicks to her advantage stopping her girl for few seconds with some perfectly timed round kicks. Round 3 she lighted up again and continued much of the same. Myah was a little heavier than the other girl but was graceful enough to control her power through-out the bout, Myah is now 3 of 3 and will go on to become a great little super star.

Daniel Brown again new to the world of Kickboxing and having 2 bouts this weekend, both hard fights and both a good test for him, but no mater what was thrown at him he didn’t let this faze him, Dan found answers to everything that came his way, I can see this is just the start for Dan! I’m sure and can see he ready to take on many more challenges very soon. winning both bouts unanimous.

Millie Philpott age 10,  sadly we was unable to match her with her age and weight, we took a last minute what started off as a demo bout with a girl with age and height over millie but this was a good test for Millie and got her some all important ring time.

Carrie Cooper took on a last minute demo bout to help out a fellow Female who really wanted to get into the ring,  Giving away 30kgs along with keeping it controlled, carrie controlled the bout and got in a extra few rounds before her next big fight.

Last but no means least Lily Martin the crowds favourite, Lily the little one of the group but the biggest heart, Lily has only been sparring for a few weeks and was so eager to get into the ring to have a go, all 3 rounds she was smiling and running forwards with out a care in the world no matter how many times she got punched in the face. The final decision went the other way but Lily didn’t care she said to me “can I do that again?” bless her.

Id love to comment on everyones status and reply but there has been literally Hundreds this afternoon, So I will finish by saying a HUGE well done to everyone.

HKA team as always do well, some great victories to day against some tough opponents, along with some losses that we took on the chin and will come back even stronger next time..

Final count I think was 4 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw and 2 Demo bouts.
