Carrie Cooper’s Next Fight

I’ll start by saying we took this bout on 2 weeks notice after winning her last bout at Kombat zone.

We traveled 350 miles up to Sunderland, matched against the very strong and talented Becca Garside, The British champion agreed the bout giving away a few kilos, She has won many bouts in many different disciplines, We knew she was going to be a real challenge and if I’m honest are game plan was to BEAST straight through her, Not giving her a second to think or find her range. Along with being a local fighter and to fair a Local Hero too, a very well supported young lady. I really didn’t want to leave it to chance or the judges………..

Round 1 was hard and fast, Carrie setting the pace, Becca landing some incredible body and head shot combos landing on Carrie cleanly, getting inside Carrie’s range making round 1 a real challenge for us… and had me a little worried if I’m honest.

Round 2, after a small tweak, Carrie started giving herself a little more space to work whilst on her front foot pushing Becca back for the next 2 rounds, starting to control the ring in her favour.

In the 3rd round, Carrie had more control as she started to wear her down more, on her front foot for 95% of the bout and putting her on the canvas with a well timed foot sweep, It wasn’t our neatest performance but we couldn’t afford to let her find her feet or rhythm.

Both Ladies gave 110%, and fought with real grit and determination, digging deep, Matched against such a Strong local girl, to battle her in her home turf can be incredibly daunting. Carrie didn’t let the faze her, A very enterineing match and both Ladies with huge respect for each other.

“Coop improves with every fight and continues to impress me, this fight tested her chin and the willingness to come from a round down to claw her way back to a victory” Instructor Carl Denne
