So here we go  – May 19th 2013

A LONG day at Predators Light Con show in Margate, all in all a great day.

Left the house at 7:40am with a team of 9.

Yesterday was to be a test for many people; as we had 5 fighters on their first outing for HKA

First up Nick Lelliot – with a near perfect fight, over whelming his man with a first round stoppage! (Nick has only been training 10 weeks)

Cody Cradock, had his second fight so far, and very nervous with a tough little bout, scored his first win to his name. Very Proud.

Josh Simmonds, Again debut fight, and again another battle with even match fight, Winning the fight and scoring his first win for HKA.

Next up Lorraine Ashby, A tough fight and only been back in the gym a few times a week but wanted to have a go, In a fight that could of gone either way but sadly not our way on the day, But a great hard fight to watch.

Nathan Smith had his 2nd fight to date and was over a foot taller, and Nathan has only been in the gym for a few months, but we took the fight and although Nathan tried his hardest, His man was over a foot taller and at the final bell was just too strong.

Dave Muggeridge was next up, another debut fight for the club, another great fight to watch and not an easy one, Dave used his reach and skills he has learnt over the last 4/5 months and put them to great effect and came out victorious, scouring Dave’s first win and another win for HKA.

Tan Denne, had a hard fight as nervous got the better of him and was sick after the first round (sorry mate –but fact) and then was playing catch up as was st4ruggleing to breathe and get his mind back into the fight, in a tough close slugged out fight. Tan just missing out. No Pizza next time eh????

Last up Kieran and Tom, both men again in their debut fights, and they both were tested by having  hard fights, Kieran fighting a black belt  and  Club Instructor from another gym was always going to have a test on his hands, winning the first round but then fitness got the better of him and the shots started to take their toll, same goes for Tom. Tom has only really been training a few months and wanted to step into the ring to test himself and test he did, with another tough fight and towards the end fitness letting him down .

I was up there coaching by myself as it would have been unfair on having Beth and Leigha there, although Jenny wanted to be there the decision was made for Jen to look after the kids, So I want to say a HUGE thank you to Tan and Mainly Nick Lelliot for helping warm up the fighters ready for battle.

Future notes, 2 rings Chass and start 1 hr. earlier and on time 😉

Shame because Apart from that – Great Show.

FINALLY got home at 12:30am

The biggest well done has to do to Pete Dunnett and the ICO judges for reefing and judging 70 fights back to back with brake or complaint, and great decisions for 99% for the shows, Fantastic work.

Summery, A long hard day, some great fights won and lost and many positive steps forward,  as always blown away by my fighters professionalism, team effort and club spirit and no matter what happens on the day don’t complain and take everything on the chin, Even Light con BIG right hands :0  Love you all, The HKA family Rule.

Sorry if some of this is a little honest but I’m not one of them instructors that if you lose blow smoke up you saying “Yeah yeah you was robbed or You smashed it – You’re a machine! –  No way you lost that! ”

Sometimes the other fighter is just better than you “OR” you had a bad day, doesn’t matter, as long as you learn, take on board and grow from this defeat then you will become a better fighter.

It’s not just a sport, it’s a way of life
