So here we go – July 28th 2013
A LONG and productive day at MASSIF Light Con show in Kent.
This was Hastings Kickboxing Academy’s first time at MASSIF run by Leo Alderman and we were up for an interesting day.
Tan Denne, was first in to the ring for HKA, in a knock out style competition winning his way through the rounds all the way into the final, in his best fight to date, nervous Denne battled hard in an even battle for 2 minutes, at the final bell just missed out on the win in a bout that could of gone either way Tan ends up with a hard earned 2nd place!
Carrie Cooper was back into the ring, fighting a much leaner stronger girl, as this is open tournament they’re put into 10kg categories meaning Cooper unfortunately being at one end of the scale whilst the other lady the other end of the scale. But this didn’t phase her one bit, as for the whole fight Cooper dominated with faster sharper and more on target shots, all 3 judges awarding Cooper the win, getting her very first First place and 10 win to date.
Carrie cooper said “I’ve been training with HKA and the team for 4 years now, I love every second of it, as my fight record grows my bouts are getting harder, but I love the sport and happy to face the challenges that come my way. None of this is possible without the hard work put in 7 days a week by my main instructor Carl Denne and head Coach Jennifer”
As always a long hard day, with some great fights won, we always have a great team effort and club spirit and no matter what happens on the day don’t complain and take everything on the chin.
