st week, Gorgeous George French stepped up a A few notches after just 6 weeks ago he went for trials for the Queensbury boxing league!
They could see he had talent and was offered us a tough match against an very experienced boxer Ami Raham.
If I’m really honest I think they was using him to build up a record for someone. ;).
As Ami’s record was 19-2-0. With 1 pro fight. Ami has also knocked out his last 4 men that stood in front of him too. (So I’ve been told). Most of the evening people were saying! “Wow your fighting the General”. Or “careful he hits hard – good luck”
George only just lost on a majority decision, being only 2-0 in white collar! this should of been a walk in the park for Ami really (On paper).
But in true HKA spirit we took the fight. George knows if he wants to be at the top then we have to fight the best!
Round 1, G was very cautious as we knew Ami had stopping power, catching G with a few body shots letting G know he wasn’t there to mess around.
Round 2 much of the same, G started to find his feet but was still very cautious only throwing 1’s and 2’s. Making sure we didn’t get caught with that monster right of Ami’s.
Round 3 we started to have fun, I think G found his confidence and began to open up a little, taking some Risks, and throw back some heavy shots himself, Knocking Ami down as he lost his footing! So know count. But this helped George’s confidence even further as he started to fight back harder.
Round 4 we had to go out for a war as it was a close fight. This was a great round. Both lads smiling, nodding and acknowledging each other shots, nether man wanted to yield, both wanted a KO. At the final bell both lads still standing tall and smilling away.
Not only had we survived! we had gone the distance in a close match where we should’ve been battered from round 1.
Ami was a great young man. Us an Awesome story to tell and a warrior at heart. Fair play and the better man won on the evening!
BUT WE WAS STILL THERE. ;).
I’m Extremely proud of George for this performance. Last night was a huge step up
and he didn’t disappoint us at all. Flying the HKA flag high as always.
